The Trace series evolved as a way to focus on the details of larger works. The small size, 12 x 12 inches, and the square shape allowed me to simplify and look closer. The first set of the Traces (One through Nine) focused on landforms: rivers, rifts, and valleys. The second set (Ten through Eighteen) look below the surface to the rocks and minerals beneath our feet.
